Ensure driver safety and compliance with Essential Screens!

We’re helping you make informed hiring decisions faster than ever before!

Maintaining compliance and mitigating risk is not only important in the transportation industry – it’s essential to keep your business up and running. Whether you’re a large company or an owner operator, Essential Screens offers several services to help keep you organized!

Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)

For DOT, maintaining compliance and safety protocols to minimize risk on the road is of the highest importance. MVR records search directly from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and help to ensure you’re hiring safe drivers! MVR reports include:

  • Driver’s license status (valid, expired, suspended, etc.).
  • Class (commercial, operator, etc.).
  • Felony and misdemeanor convictions related to driving (DUI, DWI).
  • Moving/traffic violations, suspensions, restrictions.

Verifying DOT employment includes dates of employment, position held, eligibility for rehire, and accident records if applicable.

Helps reduce the risk of fines/penalties for failure to obtain the proper information before hiring.

DOT Employment Verification

DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing

Essential Screens can help you manage DOT consortiums for random drug and alcohol testing to maintain compliance. Companies and drivers must follow strict regulations surrounding this random testing which can be challenging for companies, big or small, if you’re not organized! There are serious, and large, penalties for those who do not remain in compliance, but the benefits span past avoiding fines.

  • Drug testing helps:
  • Lower the risk of on-the-job accidents and injuries.
  • Decrease company litigation/workers compensation fees.
  • Lower employee absenteeism and turnover
  • Improve company productivity and morale.

With Essential Screens, occupational health services are easily managed and scheduled online and tracking that follows every event change and status of results. We offer Medical Review Officer (MRO) services for non-negative onsite tests through one of our MRO partners. DOT health services are available through a large network of trusted medical clinics that perform:

  • DOT Physical Exams (Pre-Employment/Fit-for-Duty)
    • Testing includes hearing, vision, lift/carry, crawl, agility, stamina, balance, stair climbing, standing tolerance, flexibility, strength/muscle testing.

  • Lift Tests
    • Lift tests evaluate a candidate’s ability to perform their job while considering pre-existing injuries or limitations that may impact their aptitude. As well as determining capabilities, it can also help educate the candidate on proper lifting techniques/posture to mitigate future risk of injury on the job.

DOT Consortium Management

Avoiding a bad hiring decision also means avoiding costly fines and frequent accidents. PSP reports can be an essential difference in hiring – according to a study done by the FMCSA, motor carriers using PSP reports have lowered their crash rates by 8% and out-of-service driver rates by 17% on average when compared to those that did not run a PSP.

A PSP search provides a five-year crash and three-year roadside inspection history from the FMCSA Motor Carrier Management System (MCMIS). Adding this to your searches is beneficial, and time saving, as data found oftentimes is not located on any other single search. Reports also include accident summaries, information directly from crash reports, and summary totals for violations by regulation.

Your insurance provider may require a PSP.

Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP)

Commercial Driver’s License Information System (CDLIS)

A CDLIS report is a useful tool to aid in mitigating risk and maintaining compliance with the FMCSA. CDLIS lets you verify a current CDL and review up to three prior licenses held by the driver. Ordering Motor Vehicle Records on those other licenses may lead to hits that otherwise may have gone unnoticed.

This is not a complete list- we offer hundreds of customizable screening options!

If there is a remote location without a testing facility, our staff can assist you with locating a facility. Lab testing can be completed with hair, urine, saliva, blood, or breath (for alcohol testing only). Standard configurations and customized panels are available. Where available we also offer onsite collections, physicals (DOT and non-DOT), and TB testing.

Registration for the FMCSA Clearinghouse can be done through their website.

Additional information regarding regulations and guidelines through the Department of Transportation (DOT).
