i-9 and e-verify

To verify employment eligibility, E-Verify is run a single time after an offer of employment has been made and accepted, but no later than the third business day after the employee starts paid work. 

Verification of employment eligibility comes from the Social Security Administration (SSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) based on the information provided in the Form I-9. Results of E-Verify, unless Final Non-Confirmation, must not impact an employer’s hiring decision. 

Consent Based Social Security Number Verification (CBSV) mitigates fraud and identity theft by linking personal identifiers directly to the official government issuing authority.
